To mark the release of our collection of
hits from 1916, called 1916: "The Country Found Them
Ready," here is a cute oddity from that year.
It is the familiar tune of Dvorak's "Humoresque," with
lullaby lyrics sung by the trio of Kline, Baker, and Dunlap,
three of the best known female singers of the 1910s. These
three women were comfortable singing both serious and popular
numbers.
The arranger of this piece is Frank R. Rix,
a music educator who wrote A Manual of School Music
in Elementary Grades for Supervisors and Teachers (1909)
and Voice
Training for School Children (1910).
